Total GenXer. I remember the days before the internet or social media as we know it today. I have been a gamer since the 80s. My anime and manga consumption has been far more than it probably should be. I was a big movie and TV buff but I have drifted mostly away from that after I stopped owning a TV. I still watch some of the newer media but it is not the same for me. This is my personal page, so I intend to mostly avoid work talk but I have worked with animals in some capacity since the early 90s. I am a former zookeeper. Worked in education and outreach for over a decade. Now more botanist than anything else. I have had this tech/nerdy side for far too long and it is more of an oddity in my field in some ways so I just keep them separate. Some work related things might sneak in but this is for all my non-work related topics. If anything I might share some old antics from when I was doing informal education. This will be an ever evolving page as I get into the swing of managing my own site.
I have my partner to thank (think we are at ~15yrs together now) for influencing the name choice. Started off with my big, cheesy grin when I am about to start shit. It became referred to as a "weasel grin." After awhile, we both seemed to noticed how similar my behaviors can be to that of a weasel so that just stuck. The "Ouizel" just became a bit of tounge in cheek play on weasel that I just fully embraced. During my animal care career, the weasel family animals were my favorite mammals to work with and to provide enrichment for. From a personality standpoint, weasels suit me well. Also, I have some hypermobilty issues so the bendy fits, too.
